About Chalad Academy

Teaching AI with patience and purpose

We started with a simple idea: that learning to work with AI should be open to anyone willing to put in the effort, regardless of their starting point.

Our Story

How Chalad Academy came to be

Chalad Academy was established in Bangkok in 2021 by a small group of software practitioners and educators who had each spent time teaching informally. What they found, again and again, was that the available courses either moved too quickly for newcomers or offered little human contact beyond pre-recorded videos.

The name "Chalad" — which carries a sense of cleverness and thoughtfulness in Thai — reflects how the school approaches its work. Rather than pushing learners toward speed or volume, Chalad Academy focuses on genuine comprehension, practical skill, and the confidence that comes from finishing something real.

Today the school runs three structured courses covering the journey from Python foundations through to a finished AI portfolio project. All sessions are conducted online and in English, with scheduling arranged around each learner's existing commitments.

Mission

To make AI development education genuinely accessible — taught with care, at a pace that allows real understanding to form.

Vision

A Thailand where capable, thoughtful AI practitioners emerge from all kinds of backgrounds — not just those with formal computer science degrees.

Values

Patience, honesty, and steady support. We believe good teaching involves listening as much as explaining.

The People

Who you'll be learning with

Our instructors are practitioners first. They bring working knowledge of the tools and concepts they teach.

PW

Piyaporn Wongchai

Lead Instructor — Python & ML

Piyaporn has spent seven years building data pipelines and ML models for logistics companies in Southeast Asia. She joined Chalad Academy to teach in the way she wished she had been taught — clearly and without rushing.

KT

Kritphat Tanawit

Mentor — Portfolio & Capstone

Kritphat works as an independent AI consultant and brings a practical, project-focused perspective. He mentors learners through their capstone projects, helping them shape work that reflects genuine capability.

NS

Nareerat Somboon

Course Coordinator

Nareerat manages scheduling, learner communications, and enrolment. She ensures each learner's experience is smooth from their first enquiry through to their final session, and is usually the first friendly voice you'll encounter.

Standards

How we maintain teaching quality

Every course is reviewed and refined regularly. Here are some of the ways we hold ourselves to a considered standard.

Curriculum review cycles

Course content is reviewed every six months to reflect current tools, libraries, and practices in the AI field. Outdated material is removed rather than just updated.

Instructor accountability

Each instructor's sessions are reviewed quarterly through learner feedback. We address concerns directly and thoughtfully, rather than letting them accumulate.

Learner data protection

Personal information shared during enrolment and study is handled with care. We do not share learner data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Group size limits

We set maximum group sizes at eight learners per session. This keeps discussions substantive and ensures everyone's questions get proper attention.

Clear course documentation

Every course comes with written syllabi, session notes, and resource lists. Learners know what to expect at each stage before they begin.

Transparent expectations

We are straightforward about what each course covers, how long it takes, and what learners are expected to bring to it. No surprises after enrolment.

AI education that fits the learner

Chalad Academy operates from Bangkok's Ratchathewi district and delivers all its courses online, in English. The school focuses on three areas of AI development: foundational Python and machine learning concepts, practical model-building with real data, and mentor-guided project work leading to a portfolio piece.

What distinguishes the school's approach is the relationship between learner and instructor. Rather than automated feedback systems or pre-recorded modules, each learner works with a consistent instructor or mentor who follows their progress across the full duration of the course. This allows the teaching to be responsive rather than fixed — if a concept takes longer to settle, the sessions adjust accordingly.

The school's learners come from a range of fields — engineering, finance, design, research — and arrive with different levels of coding experience. The AI Essentials Course accommodates those with no prior programming background. The Hands-On Machine Learning Track suits those who have some coding familiarity and want to move into applied work. The Capstone and Portfolio Mentorship is designed for dedicated learners ready to complete a substantial independent AI project with guidance throughout.

Chalad Academy does not offer automated certificates or time-pressured assessments. The outcome it values most is a learner who understands what they have built and can speak to it clearly — whether in a professional context or in their own continued study.
